‘Could it be? Yes, it could. Something’s coming – something good.’ This love story between Tony and Maria is inspired by Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet and is set in 1950s Manhattan’s Upper West Side
Then, a multiracial, blue-collar neighbourhood, explores the rivalry between the Sharks and the Jets, two teenage gangs who vie with each other for dominance. Our young audience will surely understand the danger of feuding gangs and knife crime as the tragedy unfolds. But as much as this story is about gangs and rivalry, it is about the world a young generation inherits. Whatever meagre offering, they’ll fight tooth and nail to protect it. We will raise the house Tonight in America with this Cool production.
